ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO UTILIZE AN EXISTING PUBLIC WORKS ANNUAL CONTRACT TO REPLACE/ADD CULVERTS
REQUEST: Authorization to utilize an annual public works contract with D.S. Eakins Construction Corporation for the replacement/addition of culverts, at a cost of $136,110.00.

EXPLANATION: The Public Works Department is seeking authorization to utilize an annual Public Works contract (007-15/DZ), previously approved by Council on July 14, 2015, with D.S. Eakins for the following culvert replacement/addition:
1). Location #1: Replace the existing 72" culvert on the C2 Canal Bridle Crossing just south of the C24 Canal with Twin 84" Corrugated Aluminum Pipe (CAP) culverts. The increase pipe diameter and additional pipe will relieve the choke point and increase the flow from Storm Water Basin B to Storm Water Basin A during major storm events.
2). Location #2: Install a new 72" CAP culvert under Ousley Farms Rd to make the connection between the C2 and C24D Canals. The additional connection to the C2 Canal will provide a secondary outfall for this area and will increase the flow from Storm Water Basin B to Storm Water Basin A during major storm events.
Staff is seeking authorization to utilize D.S. Eakins Construction Corporation, under their existing approved contract for Location #1 at cost of $74,550.00 and Location #2 at a cost of $61,560.00 for a total combined project cost of $136,110.00. Public Works will be supplying the pipe material and D.S. Eakins Construction Corporation will be installing the pipes utilizing the existing contract.
