REQUEST: Authorization to award a sole source contract to Pioneer Athletics for the purchase and delivery of a TinyLineMarker, in the amount of $37,827.68.

EXPLANATION: The Public Works department is seeking authorization to purchase a TinyLineMarker-GPS enabled line-marking machine, to line sports fields throughout the Village. The TinyLineMarker is a reliable, accurate and user-friendly machine that will reduce the amount of time it takes to line fields. For example, it currently takes three (3) employees, approximately three (3) weeks to line fields at Village Park. The TinyLineMarker will allow one employee to perform the same task in one (1) week, enabling staff to perform other tasks.
Pioneer Athletics is the nation's leader in athletic field paints and striping equipment, currently utilized on professional football fields, college fields, and many high school and city parks, throughout the country. Pioneer Athletics is the manufacturer and sole distributor of many products widely used on athletic fields. They are the only authorized distributor of TinyLineMarker in the United States, and the only product in the market that works free of components, such as a satellite signal base station.
Staff recommends awarding a sole source contract to Pioneer Athletics for the purchase and delivery of a TinyLineMarker GPS enabled line-marking machine, to line fields throughout the Village, in the amount of $37,827.68.
