ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO UTILIZE A PALM BEACH COUNTY CONTRACT WITH WYNN & SONS ENVIRONMENTAL CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. FOR THE GREENBRIAR BOULEVARD CROSSWALK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

EXPLANATION: This is a safety enhancement project for both New Horizons Elementary School and Tiger Shark Cove Park by improving the pedestrian crosswalk facilities. Impatient westbound drivers dropping off students are entering New Horizons by using both lanes to make the southbound left turn, which creates hazards for both pedestrians and the traveling public. The project will add a directional median, modify the existing crosswalk and add flashers to the intersection. The project was designed by the Engineering Department team.
Staff recommends utilizing Palm Beach County contract #R2018-0012, as a basis for pricing, with Wynn & Sons Environmental Construction Co., Inc. for the Greenbriar Boulevard crosswalk improvement project at a cost of $30,666.00.
