EXPLANATION: The Utility owns and operates ground water supply wells that supply untreated water to the Lime and Membrane Plants on Wellington Trace. The Utility is currently under construction on Phase II of a comprehensive water supply rehabilitation program to improve well performance, ensure available raw water supply to meet demands and extend the useful life of the wells.
Council previously awarded a contract to Florida Design Drilling Corp., to rehabilitate wellfields utilizing traditional acidization techniques. Traditional techniques are no longer an option due to a casing failure at wellfield 24. Due to the criticality of this well, staff issued an emergency change order to Florida Design Drilling, Corp., in the amount of $111,625.00 to remedy the issue.
