EXPLANATION:                     On July 9, 2019, Council awarded a contract to South Florida Building, Inc., DBA BDI Marine Contractors for Phase II for the Peaceful Waters Boardwalk Project, in the amount of $283,514.00. Phase II includes a total of 685 feet of new boardwalk. The Village received a grant from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) under the Recreational Trails Program in the amount of $200,000 to replace a total of 1200 feet of boardwalk.

The third and final phase of the project has been designed and includes an additional 515 feet for a total of 1200 feet as required by the grant. Staff recommends executing a Change Order in the amount of $122,288.00 to BDI Marine for Phase III of the Peaceful Waters Boardwalk Project.

If approved, the new total project price (Phase II and Phase III) will be $402,802.00, of which the Village will receive $200,000 or approximately fifty percent (50%) from the DEP grant.

The wetland park will be closed for approximately 240 days during construction.  This project is part of the approved Utility Capital Improvement Plan.
