PUBLIC HEARING: YES QUASI-JUDICIAL: NO
EXPLANATION: Due to recent federal court rulings in relation to signage and freedom of speech, the legal department needed time to review the proposed changes and make modifications to ensure the sign code was not in conflict with those rulings. Article 7, Ordinance 2018-08, was reviewed by PZAB on September 12, 2018. The proposed ordinance is for the section related to signage only.
The revisions to the proposed sign code will need to be reviewed by the PZAB and Council again prior to being incorporated into the final approval and second reading of the LDR.
SUMMARY: Staff recommends approval of Ordinance No. 2019-12 to amend the sign code of Wellington’s Land Development Regulations.
