A RESOLUTION OF WELLINGTON, FLORIDA’S COUNCIL TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF RECEIVING A GRANT UNDER PROVISIONS OF THE LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION PROGRAM FOR THE TOWN CENTER BOARDWALK PROJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
RESOLUTION NO. 2019-73 (FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION GRANT FUNDS)
A RESOLUTION OF WELLINGTON, FLORIDA’S COUNCIL AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2019-2020 SALES SURTAX CAPITAL FUND BUDGET FOR FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION GRANT FUNDS AWARDED FOR DEVELOPMENT OF THE TOWN CENTER BOARDWALK PROJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
REQUEST: Approval of Resolution No. R2019-72 authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for the Land and Water Conservation Fund grant and approval of Resolution No. R2019-73 for a budget amendment to allocate the $200,000 in grant monies to the Governmental Capital Fund revenue and expenditures.

EXPLANATION: The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) administers the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Program to provide grants for outdoor recreation and conservation lands. The Town Center Boardwalk project includes construction of a new boardwalk, fishing, picnic, and boating facilities, waterfront access multi-purpose trail, landscaping, renovation of playground, and improvements as well as other outdoor amenities, which qualify for grant funds under the LWCF program. The FDEP has awarded $200,000 in grant funding for the Town Center Boardwalk project to match Wellington’s investment in this project.
To accept the grant, the Village is required to sign and return two original copies of the Grant Agreement No. LW689 no later than December 18, 2019. Approval of Resolution No. R2019-72 authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the FDEP for the grant. Approval of the associated Budget Amendment Resolution No. R2019-73 will allocate the grant revenue and expenditure for the Town Center Boardwalk project.
