EXPLANATION: Through the Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant Program, funding is made available in the form of a non-competitive formula grant to State and Local governments to assist in carrying out public safety related activities. In July of 2019, the Village of Wellington was allocated $9,255 (see attached 2018 allocations listing) in grant funding. In order to obtain the allocated grant funds, Wellington is required to provide an opportunity for public comment and Council approval of the application.

As part of an ongoing project aimed at reducing incidences of vandalism and other crime activity, Wellington has proposed to utilize the funds for the purpose of additional security cameras at the Greenbriar Dog Park. These installations will serve as a crime deterrent and as an aid in solving crimes on public property. Staff has coordinated with the Sheriff's office to identify the most appropriate location and means of monitoring.
