ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO EXECUTE A CHANGE ORDER FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT FOR THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

EXPLANATION: The FY 2020 Utility Capital Budget includes the construction of Clearwell 4 Post Treatment Improvements and Train 8 High Pressure Pump. The project is designed and is ready to bid.
The High Pressure Pump, Micron Filter and Variable Frequency Drive required for Train 8 are identical to the equipment installed for Train 7 by Weiss Construction. These items have very long lead times between purchase and delivery. In order to expedite delivery of this equipment, Weiss has agreed to purchase it through their Contract with no markup. The equipment will be installed by Utility Department staff. Our estimated savings is approximately $53,800 using this procurement method.
Weiss Construction Co of Florida LLC was award the Water Treatment Renewal and Replacement project in August 2018. This Change Order provides for the purchase of a new feed water pump, micron filter and variable frequency drive for Train 8. Once approved, a Change Order will be issued deducting the full amount from Weiss' Contract so that the Village can procure the material directly. This will result in a net zero Change Order.
Staff recommends executing a change order with Weiss Construction Co of Florida LLC for the procurement of additional equipment for the Water Treatment Plant Construction Project in the amount of $342,987.92.
