EXPLANATION: Annually the Village Council recognizes those Public Safety personnel that have been nominated as Wellington’s Top Cop and Top Firefighter.
For 2020, both Captain Silva of the Wellington District 8 Sheriff’s Office and Battalion Chief William Rowley of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue submitted their nominations for this award. Captain Silva’s nominations included Deputy Sheriff Scott Poritz, Corporal Jason Villiers, Deputy Taschner and Detective Timothy Barbusio. Chief Rowley’s nominations included Captain Bob Dawson, Captain Craig Dube and Lieutenant Andrew Lombardo.
These nominations were presented to the Public Safety Committee for consideration at the June 24th regular meeting, at which time the Committee made their recommendations. The Committee recommended Deputy Sheriff Scott Poritz as Wellington’s Top Cop for 2020 and Captain Craig Dube as Wellington’s Top Firefighter for 2020. Captain Rolando Silva and District Chief William Rowley are in attendance to present this year’s awards.
