ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO CONTINUE UTILIZING A CITY OF PLANTATION CONTRACT WITH ALLIED UNIVERSAL CORPORATION FOR THE PURCHASE AND DELIVERY OF SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE

EXPLANATION: The Utilities Department utilizes sodium hypochlorite as a disinfectant in the water and wastewater treatment processes.
The City of Plantation awarded contract #ITB 016-16 to Allied Universal Corporation for the purchase and delivery of sodium hypochlorite. The City of Plantation exercised the fourth and final renewal option on August 12, 2020 through October 20, 2021. The delivered per gallon price with Allied Universal will be $0.528 per split and full tanker load. The current price is $0.518 per load.
Staff requests authorization to continue utilizing the City of Plantation contract #016-16 with Allied Universal Corporation for the purchase and delivery of sodium hypochlorite in the amount of approximately $420,000.00. Of this amount, $260,000 is for Water Treatment Plant and $160,000 is for the Water Reclamation Facility.
In order to ensure the best price, staff compared pricing with the City of Fort Lauderdale and the City of Stuart contracts and found that the City of Plantation provided the best price to the Village.
