…body

EXPLANATION:                     The Public Works Department continues to maintain our storm water pump stations.  Public Works is seeking to have all the pump bearings reconditioned from an oil-lubricated system to a lubrication by water system. This new technology will eliminate the risk of any unforeseen oil spills into our waterways. This program will be ongoing for the next seven years with two pumps to be reconditioned each year, at a cost of $39,500.00 per pump.  The two pumps at pump station #3 will be the first to get this new technology.

Staff recommends awarding a sole source contract to MWI Pump to provide the MWI Pump Conversion to Water Lubrication project, at a cost of $79,000.00. This is a budgeted item in the CIP Pump Station & Surface Water Management System Rehabilitation under Project CPW10005.
