EXPLANATION: In November 13, 2001, the Village Council established a Founders Plaque to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the Village of Wellington.
Dr. Carmine Priore contributed greatly to the development of the Village of Wellington in his many roles over the years. He began his involvement in 1992 when he was elected to the Acme Improvement District’s Board of Supervisors and served as the Board’s President from 1994 to 1996. He is the past President of the Palm Beach County League of Cities and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Florida League of Cities. In 2008, he was elected President of the Florida League of Cities. He was elected to the Village of Wellington Council in 1996 and re-elected in 2000, 2004 and 2008. He served as Wellington’s Mayor from 1998-2000. In March, 2010, Dr. Priore was appointed Mayor pro tem for Wellington. He recently served on the Wellington Planning, Zoning and Adjustment Board from 2018-2020.
