EXPLANATION: Staff is seeking authorization to:

1. Award a contract to Hinterland Group, Inc for the Wastewater Lift Stations 10, 48, 76 and 79 Rehabilitation project in the amount of $1,439,500. The Utility completed an extensive evaluation of all 105 sanitary sewer lift stations and developed a comprehensive rehabilitation program. Phase I of the program was completed successfully last year. Phase II includes four stations and generally incorporates rehabilitation of the pumps, wet wells, vaults, piping, electrical, control panels, fencing, landscaping and site civil improvements. Additionally, permanent standby emergency generators will be installed at each of the four stations. The purchase of the generators were partially grant funded. Hinterland Group, Inc. submitted a base bid of $1,275,000. Staff is also recommending award of three Alternate Bid Line Items: (Furnish and install odor control vent for LS 76 in the amount of $12,000), (Rehabilitate existing valve vault and replace valves in vault, and coat vault interior and piping for LS 79, in the amount of $16,000) and (Furnish and install permanent pump out assembly for LS 79 in the amount of $6,500) along with $130,000 in contingencies. The total Bid Award with Alternates and Contingencies is $1,439,500. Staff is recommending award of the Contract to Hinterland Group, Inc., the lowest responsive bidder.
