EXPLANATION: The Utility Department's water distribution system is comprised of a system of pipes and valves that deliver treated potable water to its customers. The system includes approximately 3,500 isolation valves that range from 4" to 16" and are critical to system operations. The American Water Works Association (AWWA) recommends all water utilities initiate an exercise program that ensures all critical valves are inspected and operated on a regular basis. In 2018, the Utility launched a comprehensive maintenance program to locate, identify, clean and exercise these valves and fix those in need of repair. The first system wide maintenance was completed successfully in FY 2019 by Hydromax. The Utility's goal is to implement the exercise program every two years. Due to the scope of this extensive program, assistance from a qualified outside firm is required. This Contract will allow the Utility to continue the program which will assist with optimizing system performance and reliability, minimizing water loss and enhancing distribution system water quality. Funding for this work is included in the approved FY 21 Utility Operational Budget.

On November 23, 2019, Palm Beach County awarded a term contract IFB #19-027R/CC to Hydromax USA, LLC. The contract was awarded for a period of 1 (one) year with 4 (four) optional one (1) year renewals. The current contract is the first renewal option and is effective through November 22, 2021.
