EXPLANATION: A deep injection well is used as the primary means of disposing treated wastewater at Wellington’s Water Reclamation Facility. The deep injection well is permitted by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). Pursuant to the FDEP operating permit for the deep injection well, the Utility must test the integrity of the well every five years to ensure it is functioning properly.
On January 22, 2021, Wellington released ITB #202110 on Demandstar, seeking qualified firms to provide such services. The solicitation was also advertised in the Palm Beach Post and posted on Wellington’s website. On February 16, 2021, three (3) proposals were received, as summarized below:
