RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF WELLINGTON AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE FLORIDA DIVISION OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS CULTURAL FACILITIES PROGRAM REQUESTING $500,000 FOR WELLINGTON AMPHITHEATER, AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING AN AMOUNT OF $1,000,000 AS THE VILLAGE’S REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS.
REQUEST: Approval of Resolution No. R2021-19 authorizing the Village of Wellington to apply for funding in the amount of $500,000 through the Cultural Facilities Program for Amphitheater Improvements, with the stipulation of a 2 to 1 matching funds.

EXPLANATION: The Florida Department of State through the Division of Cultural Affairs provides financial support for the renovation, construction and acquisition of cultural and community facilities. Eligible projects for this funding opportunity include outdoor amphitheater, cultural centers, and community centers.
The Village of Wellington is proceeding with the Town Center Phase II development which includes expansion of Scott’s Place Park, the Amphitheater, new restrooms, projection building, and expansion through additional green space.
