ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO AWARD A TASK ORDER TO PROVIDE DESIGN AND ENGINEERING CONSULTING SERVICES FOR THE SOUTH SHORE FORCEMAIN REPLACEMENT PHASE 2 PROJECT

EXPLANATION: On January 12, 2016, Council awarded an engineering services contract #011-15/ED to multiple vendors. As part of the solicitation, Mock Roos & Associates, Inc. was selected as one of Wellington's engineering service providers. Staff is seeking authorization to utilize this contract with Mock Roos & Associates, Inc. to provide design and engineering consulting services.
The South Shore Forcemain Replacement Project includes three phases. Phase I runs along the east side South Shore Blvd. right of way from Sheffield Street to Big Blue Trace. Phase I is about to commence construction and is scheduled to be completed by December of this year.
Phase II runs along the east side of South Shore Blvd right of way between Big Blue Trace and Forest Hill Blvd. This Work Authorization will include the design of Phase II. Completing the design of Phase II now will allow Phase II construction work to commence shortly after completion of Phase I. The entire project consists of three phases and is estimated to cost $ 9 Million and be complete by 2024. The primary forcemain that connects to the Water Reclamation Facility runs through Palm Beach Polo. This forcemain is approximately 40 years old and at its useful life. The new forcemain will become the primary forcemain to the Water Reclamation Facility once all three phases are complete.
Staff recommends awarding a task order to Mock Roos & Associates, Inc. to provide design and engineering consulting services for South Shore forcemain replacement phase 2 project, in the amount of $109,716.00.
