ITEM:                     AUTHORIZATION TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF HIGH MAST LIGHTS ALONG THE SR7 CORRIDOR

REQUEST:                     Authorization to enter into an agreement with FDOT for the maintenance of high mast lights along the SR7 corridor.

…body

EXPLANATION:                     Pursuant to an interlocal agreement between Palm Beach County and the Village of Wellington, Wellington is responsible for the maintenance of twenty-nine (29) high mast lights along the SR7 road corridor and within the Village of Wellington corporate limits (location map attached).  The turnover of lights from Palm Beach County to Wellington occurred in October, 2014.

As SR7 is a State roadway, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) reimburses municipalities for most of the operation and maintenance costs for the lights provided the municipality enters into a maintenance agreement with FDOT.  FDOT has made minor revisions to the Agreement with Wellington, a copy of which is attached.  The current rate of reimbursement is $309.10 per lumen per year for a total of $26,891.70 for FY 2022.  Each high mast has three (3) lumens for a total of 87 lumens.  The per-light unit rate will increase by 3% each fiscal year (i.e. the rate will increase to $318.37 in FY 2023).
