EXPLANATION: As a part of the 2021 Florida Legislative session, House Bill (HB) 59 was approved by the Governor. HB 59 requires local governments to include a property rights element in their comprehensive plans. The property rights element must be adopted by the earlier of the adoption of the next plan amendment initiated or the next evaluation and appraisal report.
At the August 13, 2021 Planning, Zoning, and Adjustment Board (PZAB) meeting, the Board recommended approval of Ordinance No. 2021-17 with a 6-0 vote.
