REQUEST: Authorization to utilize existing contracts and award sole source contracts for various FY 2022 Public Works Projects with a budgeted total amount of $3,390,000.00.

EXPLANATION: The Public Works Department is seeking authorization to utilize existing contracts and award sole source contracts for various FY 2022 exceeding the Village’s $50,000 threshold.
The projects include: 1) Roadway milling, resurfacing, traffic striping, valley gutter, guardrail installation and sidewalk maintenance 2) Swale maintenance and reconstruction, sod installation, canal desilting, drainage pipe cleaning and lining, culvert inspection 3) Pump Station 4 water lube conversion 4) Reconditioning trash rake at pump station 7.

Due to mechanical issues such as oil leaks, seal failure and lower bearing areas, the pumps are in need of repairs. MWI Corporation is the custom engineer and fabricator of MWI pumps and a sole source provider. |

Pump Station 7 Trash Rake Reconditioning |
The trash rake was refurbished in 2015 and is in need of maintenance and repairs. The trash rake removes canal debris and vegetation from the protective bar screens on the upstream side of the pump station while the pumps are running. Hydro Component Systems, LLC. is the original manufacturer. |

Although the Village of Wellington and Palm Beach County contracts listed above are not set to expire at this time, and the sole source contracts/services are exempt from competition, the individual projects exceed $50,000, and require prior Council approval.
Staff is seeking authorization to utilize the existing annual contracts and award sole source contracts summarized above for various FY 2022 Public Works projects that exceed $50,000.
The total budgeted amount of all projects combined is $3,390,000.00.
