EXPLANATION: Pursuant to RFQ# 202113, on May 11, 2021, the Village Council awarded a continuing Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) contract to Wharton-Smith, Inc. On September 13, 2021, Council awarded Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) Amendment No. 1 to Wharton-Smith, Inc. (Wells R1, R2, R3, and R4).
Staff is seeking authorization to issue Amendment No. 2, providing a GMP for the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Well Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Project. Amendment No. 2 will address the need to upgrade Alternate Wells No. 19, 20, 21, and 23 to add variable frequency drive (VFD) units, associated controls, and site improvements. These upgrades will provide significantly enhanced operations control and save money by allowing the motor to produce only the amount of energy required to pump to the plant. Under Amendment No. 2, Substantial Completion shall be amended and re-established at 533 calendar days. Under GMP Amendment No. 1, Substantial Completion was established at 458 calendar days.
Staff recommends executing a GMP Amendment to Wharton-Smith, Inc. for the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Well Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Project at a cost of $993,375.00, including $60,000.00 in owner controlled contingencies.
