ITEM: RESOLUTION NO. R2022-41 (PALM BEACH COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE DISTRICT 8 WELLINGTON FY2023 BUDGET AND CONTRACT)
A RESOLUTION OF WELLINGTON, FLORIDA’S COUNCIL APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CLERK TO EXECUTE THE LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH THE PALM BEACH COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FOR FY 2023; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

EXPLANATION: In April 2022, correspondence was received from PBSO indicating that they were proposing a 3% increase to the existing contract. Additionally, four (4) crossing guards were added for Wellington in the area of Aero Club Drive and Binks Forest Drive in a prior contract year that were not previously added to Wellington’s contract.
In accordance with Wellington’s Law Enforcement Services Agreement (LESA) with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the Sheriff has submitted a proposal in the form of the Law Enforcement Service Agreement for FY2023 (attached). The proposal includes the staffing change noted above as well as the proposed 3% increase for FY2023. The proposed contract total for FY2023 is $10,546,818.00, an increase of approximately $389,600.70 over FY2022.
