EXPLANATION: The Wellington Historical Society, Inc., a Florida not-for-profit corporation and an IRC 501(c)(3) Organization, raises and expends funds in furtherance of its goal of preserving the unique history of Wellington through the collection and cataloging of artifacts and the development of educational programming.
Last year, Wellington entered into an agreement with the Wellington Historical Society to provide historical services and educational programming to the residents of Wellington. This partnership has, among other things, facilitated the Wellington Historical Society’s ongoing efforts to record oral histories and launch its oral history video series in addition to its lunch and learn series.
The existing Agreement for Historical Services terminates on September 30, 2022 if not extended. The new Agreement for Historical Services contains the same general terms but provides for a two (2) year term beginning October 1, 2022.
Wellington will continue to provide: (1) rooms at the Wellington Community Center and/or other facilities for Wellington Historical Society meetings and programs; (2) support in the form of communications personnel, equipment, and facilities, all subject to availability, for the production and presentation of oral histories; and (3) broadcasting of Wellington Historical Society programming on Wellington’s government access television channel.
Wellington Historical Society will continue to provide: (1) community and school programs to further the education and appreciation of Wellington’s history; (2) assistance with Wellington events that the parties agree fall within the scope of Wellington Historical Society’s purpose; (3) historically-oriented programming for Wellington’s community channel and other media; and (4) upon request from the Village Council, recommendations of persons whose names to consider for the Founders Plaque.
