REQUEST: Approval of Resolution Nos. R2022-21 (Architectural Review Board), R2022-22 (Construction Board of Adjustment and Appeals), R2022-23 (Education Committee), R2022-24 (Equestrian Preserve Committee), R2022-25 (Parks and Recreation Advisory Board), R2022-26 (Planning, Zoning, and Adjustment Board), R2022-27 (Public Safety Committee), R2022-28 (Senior Advisory Committee), and R2022-29 (Tree Board).

EXPLANATION: Wellington has amended its Code of Ordinances to remove outdated and unnecessary provisions and simplify the provisions set forth therein. The amended Code of Ordinances eliminates the creation of specific boards within the Code, except for those required by the Florida Statutes, and generally authorizes the Wellington Council, by resolution, to establish those boards it deems appropriate to advise Council on specific areas of interest or needs. The amended Code further provides that Council may, by resolution, create a committee whose purpose is to advise the Council on an item of a specific nature and whose creation is for a stated period of time. The powers and duties of the various boards and committees, and the number, qualifications, and terms of office of the members thereof shall be established by resolution.

Resolution Nos. R2022-21, R2022-22, R2022-23, R2022-24, R2022-25, R2022-26, R2022-27, R2022-28, and R2022-29 reestablish those Wellington boards and committees that existed prior to the adoption of the amended Code of Ordinances (except for the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, which is governed by a separate ordinance and resolution) so that each board and committee may continue to operate and advise Council consistent with the purposes for which it was created.
