ITEM:                     DISCUSSION BY THE ACME BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF UNIT OF DEVELOPMENT 50TH STREET AND A RECOMMENDED WITHDRAWAL OF THE UNIT’S PROPOSED PLAN OF IMPROVEMENT AND REVISED ENGINEER’S REPORT

REQUEST:                     Discussion by the ACME Board of Supervisors of a recommended withdrawal of the proposed Plan of Improvements and revised Engineer’s Report for Unit of Development 50th Street.

…body

EXPLANATION:                     The ACME Improvement District approved the landowners’ request to form Unit of Development 50th Street for approximately 119 acres located adjacent to a portion of 50th Street at their November 9, 2021 meeting (Resolution No. AC2021-13).

The 119 acres consists of approximately 59 acres on the south side of 50th Street and a 59-acre parcel on the north side of 50th Street.  The proposed improvement program for the 50th Street Unit of Development is to pave an approximately one-half mile section of 50th Street between Ousley Farms Road and South Road and provide for its drainage.

There are serious concerns regarding the rapidly escalating costs of both construction and financing of these improvements in the current economic environment.  Based on these concerns, Staff recommends that this Unit’s currently proposed Plan of Improvements and revised Engineer’s Report be withdrawn from further consideration by the Board of Supervisors.
