EXPLANATION: On March 22, 2022, the Wellington Council adopted Ordinance No. 2022-04, establishing the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) pursuant to section 420.0976 of the Florida Statutes. On September 6th, 2022, the Wellington Council appointed the initial eight (8) members of the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee. Shortly thereafter, two (2) members resigned. The two (2) vacant seats need to be filled to meet the minimum committee size and ensure a quorum at pending meetings.

The goal for the AHAC is to assist in reviewing new strategies, enhance existing strategies, provide community outreach and feedback, and to help create SHIP Program policies and procedures. General duties from the committee range from recommending monetary and non-monetary incentives for affordable housing; recommend and establish regulatory incentives, which is governments' primary tools for facilitating private sector development of affordable housing; review policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, and Wellington's Comprehensive Plan; and provide recommendations to foster and promote affordable housing within Wellington.
