ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO AWARD A CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF VARIABLE FREQUENCY DRIVES FOR PUMP STATIONS 3, 6, AND 7

EXPLANATION: The Public Works Department is seeking authorization to award a contract for the purchase and installation of variable frequency drives for pump stations 3, 6 and 7. This purchase will enhance the Village's ability to pump storm water to the C-51 Canal prior to and after a storm event. The new VFDs will allow the Village to continue to pump by adjusting the speed of the pump by raising or lowering the frequency and voltage of the electricity supplied to the electric motor without damaging the pump motor.
On January 22, 2017, Wellington released ITB #002-17/DZ on Demandstar. The solicitation was also advertised in the Palm Beach Post and posted on Wellington's website. On February 15, 2017, two (2) proposals were received.
