REQUEST: Authorization to award a contract to D.S. Eakins Construction Corp. for the drainage improvements for Forest Hill Boulevard in the amount of $241,941.83, and approval of Resolution No. R2017-34 and associated budget amendment 2017-046 in the amount of $242,000.

EXPLANATION: This project is located on Forest Hill Boulevard near Ken Adams Way and will improve the drainage of the roadway by adding a positive outfall to the storm water system. The project generally includes the construction of 2 drainage structures, 319 LF of 18" concrete drainage pipe, approximately 420 LF of milling and resurfacing of a 3-lane roadway, concrete curb and gutter, pavement markings, signage, grading and sodding.
On May 21, 2017, Wellington released ITB #011-17/DZ on Demandstar. The solicitation was also advertised in the Palm Beach Post and posted on Wellington's website. On June 21, 2017, five (5) proposals were received.

Staff recommends authorization to award a contract to D.S. Eakins Construction Corp., the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, for the drainage improvements on Forest Hill Boulevard near Ken Adams Way in the amount of $241,941.83.
Staff also recommends approval of a budget amendment (attached as Resolution No. R2017-34) in the amount of $242,000 to provide the necessary funding for this project.
