ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO UTILIZE A PALM BEACH COUNTY CONTRACT WITH WYNN & SONS ENVIRONMENTAL CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. FOR THE SOUTH SHORE BLVD AND GREENVIEW COVE DRIVE, MEDIAN EXPANSION AND ROADWAY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
REQUEST: Authorization to utilize Palm Beach County contract #R2018-0012 with Wynn & Sons Environmental Construction Co., Inc., as a basis for pricing, for the South Shore Blvd and Greenview Cove median expansion and roadway improvement project at a cost of $36,096.50.

EXPLANATION: During morning peak hours, maintenance vehicles wrongfully use the “U-turn” lane located on South Shore Boulevard to enter into Palm Beach Polo near Greenview Cove Drive, causing vehicles to block South Shore Boulevard northbound lanes. As a temporary solution, the Village’s Public Works Department placed flexible lane delineators closing off the left turn lane.
The permanent solution is to remove the flexible delineators, demolish the existing left turn lane and construct a raised median in this area. As part of the project, Wynn & Sons Environmental Construction will also install sod and irrigation in the median.
Staff recommends utilizing Palm Beach County contract #R2018-0012, as a basis for pricing, with Wynn & Sons Environmental Construction Co., Inc., for the South Shore Blvd and Greenview Cove median expansion and roadway improvement project at a cost of $36,096.50.
