ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO AWARD A CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE AND DELIVERY OF RAPID FLASHING BEACONS AND DUAL BEACON FLASHERS

EXPLANATION: The scope of this project includes improving the advance warning system of the bridle crossings throughout the Village. The new fourteen (14) rectangular rapid flashing beacons and fourteen (14) dual beacon flashers are compatible and will be able to communicate with the existing beacon system at each bridle crossing. The Public Works Department will be installing the new flashers at four different locations throughout the Village (50th Street, Palm Beach Point Boulevard, Drafthorse Lane, and Clydesdale Avenue) as described in the attached aerials.
On May 20, 2021, the Village released ITB #202118 Purchase and Delivery of Rapid Flashing Beacons and Dual Beacon Flashers on Demandstar, seeking qualified firms to provide such services. The solicitation was also advertised in the Palm Beach Post and posted on Wellington’s website. On June 16, 2021, two (2) proposals were received.
The lowest responsive, responsible bidder was K & K Systems, Inc., a Non-Local vendor. Based on the unit price submitted, the total cost of the project is $113,509.48.
The initial term of the contract will be three (3) years, with the option of two (2) one (1) year renewals.
Staff recommends awarding a contract to K & K Systems, Inc., the lowest responsive, responsible bidder for the purchase and delivery of rapid flashing beacons and dual beacon flashers in the amount of $113,509.48.
