EXPLANATION: On September 16, 2021, the Utility had a sanitary sewer gravity line failure in Courtyard Shops. The pipe was constructed of ductile iron, approximately 10-12 feet deep and was constructed in 1990. Due to its depth, the work was beyond Village's ability to repair in-house. Johnson-Davis, Inc. was contacted to assist with the emergency repair as they are working on the South Shore Forcemain Project, had the material and equipment available and are well qualified to perform the work. This pipe section is one of the influent lines into Lift Station 16, which is a critical master lift station. Given the facts that we have had two significant gravity line failures in the area and the failed pipe was significantly deteriorated. Staff is recommending proactive actions that include replacement of an additional 357 feet (approximately) up to the manhole just outside of Lift Station 16.
