ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO UTILIZE AN EXISTING PUBLIC WORKS CONTRACT, AS A BASIS FOR PRICING, FOR THE POLO CLUB ROAD / C-7 CANAL CULVERT REPAIR

EXPLANATION: The Engineering Department is seeking authorization to utilize an existing Public Works contract (ITB 202101), previously approved by Council on January 12, 2021, with D.S. Eakin, for a culvert repair at Polo Club Drive/C-7 Canal.
The project consists of the replacement of the existing culvert end treatments for culvert no. 130, located within the C-7 Canal and crossing Polo Club Drive. The project is located within an ACME easement that is located within the Palm Beach Polo Club. The engineering department has assessed the condition of the culvert ends and have determined that they have reached the end of their useful life and are in need of replacement. The proposed repair will harden the canal crossing and repair/prevent further erosion of the shoreline.
In order to ensure the best pricing, staff reached out multiple vendors on the awarded contract and D.S. Eakins provided the best price.
Staff is seeking authorization to utilize D.S. Eakins Construction Corporation, under their existing approved contract for the project cost of $190,503.00.
